Pitt-CIRTL certification
Pitt is member of the Center for Integrating Research, Teaching and Learning (CIRTL), a network of ~40 institutions across the country committed to improving the teaching of STEM courses by training faculty, grad students and post-docs in STEM fields on teaching methodologies. There are webinars online and courses here at Pitt that are cross-listed among Chemistry, Biology, and Engineering (e.g. 3001 and 3002)
- There are three levels of certification: Practitioner, Associate, and Scholar.

Pitt’s Center for Teaching and Learning
The Graduate Student Teaching Initiative (https://teaching.pitt.edu/graduate-student-teaching/) runs workshops on useful teaching skills, including pedagogy, educational technology, professional development, online teaching and teaching inclusively. It is also possible to achieve a digital pedagogy badge.
Practicum on University Teaching (FACDEV2200)
1-3 credits. This course in university teaching is designed for people who are teaching independently for the first time, or who have the flexibility in a recitation to design course materials and teach subject matter. It features the application of instructional principles to course development and materials.
